my mom took this picture with her cell phone during her visit last weekend. there is a little outdoor shopping center we frequent for dinner, shopping, walking and ice cream. on this night we were stopping for gelato and to let declan visit all the other kids and families that congregate around the fountain. he immediately got IN the fountain and was the only child who did so all night. he had an absolute ball and was squealing and clapping and looking at us for approval the entire time, he was just the happiest little boy! we were mildly embarassed that we seemed to be the only parents who let their kid play in the fountain but we do live really close and it is summertime - we can't always do this! i did draw the line at him drinking the fountain water which he kept trying to do.
and yes, the joy of this moment tells me we will be going back soon. tim for ice cream, declan for the fountain and me to watch all the joy unfold again. happy summer!
