i just thought i should recognize my brother andy for a great achievement last week. on tuesday he passed his PAT which is the Players Ability Test - the first round of earning his PGA certification. he is pursuing getting his PGA card which i understand to be the gold standard for having a career in the golf industry, teaching private lessons and participating in certain tournaments. he said he was going to be very nervous due to the pressure - you only get two chances to pass this playing exam in order to move on to the book portion. only 8 of the 19 guys who played with him on tuesday passed. he shot a very impressive 145 for 36 holes (needed to beat 155 in order to pass). i am looking for a sandwich and a drink after 9 holes so i can't even comprehend playing two rounds of 18 competitively in one day!
he currently works as an assistant pro at Boyne resort in northern michigan in the summers and expects to return to Bonita Bay CC in south florida this winter. now it is time to hit the books to pass the rest of the program! congrats andy we are all proud of you!
