sneak preview, halloween costume

we got to do a dry run in the monkey costume for our neighborhood trick or treat party yesterday at our clubhouse. i'm very happy with his first costume for two reasons: one - he is such a little monkey in real life, he literally climbs the walls in this house. we can not take our eye off him for a second! second - the costume is made of the warmest, softest fleece head to toe so he will be very warm this friday evening when we take him out. let's be honest, we're just going to show him off a little to the neighbors, we don't need any candy!
note the built-in banana!

bedhead

here's mr. bedhead after his nap the other day... it looked every crazier than this when i first went in his room to get him, i had to laugh! surprisingly, with all his hair, it usually lays down nice, but i think he was really knocked out for this nap... currently fighting the tail-end of a cold/ear infection duo, yuck.

tuckered out after visiting the doctor and picking up the "pink stuff" from walgreens. i love a sleeping baby.

tina and andy's wedding 10.17.08

i finally am posting some photos from tina and andy's wedding last weekend in chicago. photos courtesy of my friend becky, i forgot my camera that night, shoot! if anyone wants to fw me other pictures from the night, i'd love to add... these just tell part of the story, i wish we had more of tina and andy and the ceremony.

it was at a new leaf, a beautiful urban loft space in old town/lincoln park. the setting was pure tina, she is such a stylish city gal. the space itself is very stark with exposed brick walls, steel catwalks and glass stairs but it was warmed up with the glow of hundreds of white votives everywhere and burnt orange table & chair coverings and autumnal flowers. there are not words for how beautiful the outdoor patio was... i have attached pictures from anl's own website. unfortunately they transferred over very tiny so you'll have to squint!

the food was awesome, just a sampling of our faves: lobster mac & cheese, mini bbq beef on cornbread, pear & brie quesadillas, mini meatloaf sandwiches, tuna ceviche, mini milkshakes and old fashioned cheeseburgers in wrappers and mini-corndogs.

tina looked beautiful, who would expect less. i peeked back before she walked up and got tears in my eyes. a cool detail was that andy picked the processional song for her to walk up the aisle and it was a surprise to her until that moment, you could hear the whole audience hold their breath before that song came on, like "what is it going to be?"... it was the beatles "baby i'm amazed at the way you love me all the time..." i don't know the exact song but i'm sure most of you can figure it out from that line. :) after the ceremony, their recessional was stevie wonder's "for once in my life". it was very non-traditional yet very personal and warm, a truly wonderful evening! congratulations you two - hopefully your napa hangover wears off soon and you can relax into married life with nothing else for tina to plan or coordinate!

fun at the park

picture perfect

our fall weather has been beautiful... it is only starting to get into the low 60s this week. so far the sun has been out and the temp is often 70 making it wonderful to get outside for a fall walk or fresh air.

i took advantage and got some pictures of the two pumpkins.

here is the autumnal wreath i made with some odds and ends from hobby lobby. it turned out pretty good.

declan + elmo = bff

i have to admit, i'm not into cartoon characters or disney people but having children is probably going to change that... i already think elmo is cute b/c declan loves him. babies seem to go nuts over his his high-pitched little voice and bright red fuzzy body.

elmo's world is the only segment on sesame street he cares about so what a good mom i am - i dvr sesame street episodes every day and just fast fwd to elmos world and that's what we watch while we play. the tv is often on in the background during the day and he mostly ignores it, but when elmo is on - mesmerized.

this is him on a different morning craning his neck when elmo came on!

wired baby

he also goes crazy over his laptop, one of his favorite toys which is an actual toy as opposed to the other things he plays with these days including pots and pans, giant spoons, whisks, cabinets, keys, phones, remotes, blinds, washcloths, rugs, newspapers and the list goes on...
