blizzard of 2010

about a month ago we had a beautiful blizzard for days. it just kept snowing and snowing and snowing! now a month later, it has been 50 degrees for two days and remnants of the snow still remain! i hope spring is almost here because i am done!

this was declan's first opportunity to really play in the snow since it wasn't below zero. it was a saturday morning and the sun was brightly shining on the snow packed street and chest-high drifts. all the neighbors were out with the same idea. what a gorgeous morning! we played outside for almost two hours, i never would have imagined he could last so long!

cutie in his bib snowpants. he often finds himself "stuck" on the washer or dryer b/c it is the only place we can put him to contain him while we get ready to head out the door.

quick pose with mama

wow, this is weird stuff

you can see the smile on his face!

exploring

a closer inspection

i almost don't have words for this moment (above). he is super obsessed with all things basketball now. he saw the huge basketball hoop in our neighbors driveway and ran over to it and looked up saying "basketball" over and over again. i guess he's never seen one bigger than his little tikes one down in our basement. he wanted to play so bad!

walking back home forlorn. note the hoop in background, it was two long yards away.

a little shoveling looked like fun

UNTIL he remembered his own basketballs in the garage. dropped the shovel, ran in the garage, went running down the driveway with a basketball in his hand.

DETERMINATION... it took me a minute to realize that he was taking that ball back down the street to play basketball. i just tagged along next to him with my camera!

destination!

and still not tall enough.

it just proves that these little ones always know more than you think. he is such a smarty pants.

I think that this is the funniest post you've ever written, trix. That is hilarious. You should frame that story.

I love this story about the basketball hoop! shows his thinking process and determination. isn't it so neat to see their little minds at work?!
