baby got a new pair of shoes

it was finally time to cave and spring for declan's official first walking shoes. outside of two super cute pairs he had as a little baby - some madras boat shoes from aunt jaime and some polo high tops from aunt shelly, he hasn't really worn shoes. and he certainly made it known today that he didn't like them on his feet either. it is recommended that babies learn how to walk in bare feet, but we actually turned our heat on today so no more baby bare feet for awhile! stride rites are the mercedes of baby walking shoes. we have an outlet by us and got them for a fraction of the cost which is a good feeling since i'm sure his feet will grow within the next few months.

this summer he was barefoot and fancy free for many long warm months and i took for granted how EASY it is to have an infant during summer months... throw on a cute onesie or summer romper and he was good to go. with the onset of the beautiful crisp fall weather, there are more layers and now shoes hence more struggles getting dressed. little man has never been one to be fussed with from day one home from the hospital, hey at least he's consistent! we are in the business of distraction on the changing table and get about 30 good seconds before the whining and acrobatics set in. i laugh sometimes knowing that all moms have to be ninja fast with degrees in contortionism to get a diaper or footed sleeper on a lunging child!

here he is all mad about his new shoes. you can't see but there are tears on his cheeks.

what a great milestone. you just wait, eventually he will be asking for shoes for this sport, and that sport, and you will be shopping in the mens sections! time goes too fast!
